Orbient Marketing

A B2B marketing consultancy whose own brand had to meet the standard it sells: logo, palette, website and every line of copy from a blank page, built by Pellmark and hosted, maintained and secured by us since.

Handing your own brand to another studio is not a natural act for a marketing firm. Pellmark made it easy. The logo, the palette and every line of copy came from them, the site still performs like the day it launched, and all of it holds up to the standard we sell to our own clients.

Manny, Founder, Orbient Marketing

The business

Orbient Marketing is a B2B marketing consultancy built around a plain promise, stated in its own words: “We don’t just run campaigns. We engineer growth.” Its work spans growth engineering, fractional CMO leadership, account-based marketing and lead generation on one side, and the digital marketing stack, SEO, paid media, content, conversion optimisation and analytics, on the other. Its founder, Manny, works with B2B companies that want marketing tied directly to revenue.

The starting point

A marketing consultancy’s own website carries a burden most websites never face: it is read as a work sample. Every weakness in the brand becomes an argument against hiring the firm. Manny needed an identity and a site that could hold up in rooms where marketing is the buyer’s profession, and there was nothing inherited to build on: no legacy colours, no existing mark, no copy.

What Pellmark delivered

  • Brand identity: logo designed from a blank page
  • Colour palette: created by Pellmark from scratch, no anchors inherited
  • Website: designed, built and hosted by Pellmark
  • Presentation consulting: guidance on how services, proof and visuals should be presented, with several recommendations adopted in the final pages
  • Copywriting: every page on the site written by Pellmark from scratch
  • Ongoing care: hosting, maintenance and security handled by Pellmark month to month since launch; content updates moved in-house to Orbient in recent months, at the firm’s request

The work in detail

The mark. Unlike most engagements, nothing was inherited here. The logo and the full palette came from a blank page, and both had to pass an unusual filter: they would be judged by marketers, who read a brand for a living.

We drew a wordmark rather than a symbol, and that was the first real decision. A consultancy’s logo does most of its work small and in company: a slide footer, a proposal cover, an email signature, a pitch deck sitting beside the client’s own brand. A symbol in those places is one more thing that has to survive being shrunk, and one more thing that has to mean something. The name is short, it is unusual enough to be searchable, and for a firm whose product is judgement expressed in words, letting the name carry the identity is the argument rather than a compromise on it. The letters are set heavy, wide and in capitals, drawn so the counters stay open at small sizes, and the whole mark reverses to white on navy without redrawing.

The palette. Marketing consultancies default to one of two palettes: the energetic one, all gradient and hot accent, or the corporate one, mid-blue and grey. The first undercuts a firm selling rigour. The second disappears. We built for a third position, and the ratios did the arbitration.

  • Orbient navy#043D76The brand colour. Deep enough to carry body text at 10.9:1.
  • Ink#2C2C2ERunning text. 13.9:1 on white, so long pages stay readable.
  • Slate#7B8B9BLabels and large type only. At 3.5:1 it is deliberately kept off body copy.
  • Mist#E1E2E3Section grounds. Separates blocks without adding a rule.
  • White#FFFFFFThe dominant surface. The palette earns attention by withholding it.

Navy is the anchor, but a specific navy: dark enough at 10.9:1 on white to set body copy, headings and the mark itself without a second brand colour propping it up. A brand colour that can only be used for decoration forces every real piece of text back to black, and the identity quietly stops appearing on its own website. This one carries text, so it is genuinely present on every page.

Ink, not black, runs the long copy at 13.9:1, holding contrast while keeping the page a shade softer than pure black on white. Slate is the disciplined one: at 3.5:1 it does not meet the threshold for body text, so it is confined to labels, eyebrows and large type. Naming that limit is the point, because grey used carelessly is the single most common accessibility failure on consultancy websites, and this is a firm that gets audited by its own prospects. Mist separates sections without a border, and white does most of the work: a palette that stays quiet has somewhere to go when something actually matters.

The typography. Two faces that are, underneath, one.

Heebo
Headings and primary navigation

Heebo is built on Roboto’s Latin letterforms, extended with a companion Hebrew. That is the reason it is here. Headings and body text therefore share the same underlying skeleton and differ only in weight and role, which is why the pages hold together without the faint discord a mismatched pairing produces. Heebo carries a heavier weight range than the body face needs, so headings get their authority from mass rather than from a competing shape.

Roboto
Body copy

A neo-grotesque with slightly narrowed forms and open apertures, drawn for screens and legible at the sizes a services page actually uses. It sets long explanatory copy without drawing attention, and because it is the same Latin design that sits inside the heading face, the hierarchy on every page reads as one system rather than two decisions.

The website. Manny asked for WordPress specifically, and he was right to ask. He knows it well, and he wanted to be able to change his own site: content, structure, the lot. A custom build would have scored higher and would also have handed him a site he could not touch without calling us first. Building where the client can actually work is worth more than a scoreboard, so we built there. We designed and built the site, and consulted on presentation: how the services should be structured, how proof should be shown, and what the visuals needed to do on each page. Several of those recommendations shaped the final pages. The site has stayed partly ours to look after: we host it, maintain it and keep it secure month to month. For most of the engagement we made the content changes too; in recent months Manny has chosen to run content himself, so we set him up with the access to do it, and we still make changes whenever he asks.

The copy. We wrote every page from scratch. Writing marketing copy for a marketing firm concentrates the mind: the words have to demonstrate the discipline they describe. The voice we built for Orbient is direct and revenue-led, in line with the firm’s own principle that everything ladders to revenue.

What we can measure

Orbient runs its own content now and makes structural changes to the site directly, which is exactly what a client-editable build is for. Those changes sit outside our control, so the figures below are a snapshot rather than a standing guarantee, and they can move between measurements. Limiting that drift is what the layers we keep are for, and at the last measurement the site was still at 100 in every category on both devices, with all three agentic checks passing. The design decisions above do not move at all: contrast is arithmetic, not opinion.

Figures are from the Google PageSpeed Insights run above, published as captured rather than cropped. Content and structure are both edited in-house and outside our control, so a score measured today may differ; this is the state at the last measurement, on the date shown. Contrast ratios are calculated from the published palette values and can be reproduced from the hex codes above. Google’s agentic browsing checks test whether an automated agent can reach, read and act on the page, which is how a growing share of buyers now arrive at a business.

The result

Orbient launched with an identity and a website that meet the bar its own clients hold it to. The brand is its own: a mark and palette that did not exist before the engagement, and a site where every line of copy was written for it. Almost all of what is on the site remains the work we delivered; in recent months Manny has run day-to-day content himself, and it evolves with the firm. Manny reports the commercial side has followed: enquiries and visibility have risen significantly since the site went live.

On commercial results. Every figure on this page is one we can measure ourselves. Enquiry volume and revenue sit inside the client’s business, not ours, so we do not estimate them and we will not publish a number a client has not approved word for word. We are gathering a full year of trading data with each client we manage and will publish what they are willing to share, in their own wording, once it is verified. Until then this page carries what the instruments show and what Manny has told us directly, and nothing else.
